LED Lights

Normal light bulbs emit a decent amount of light, however they do have some flaws. For example, a typical light bulb does not put out much light to cover a large area, and typically the bulbs do not last very long. LED lights, however, are becoming increasingly popular for more common household uses. For example, many people are now choosing to use LED lights for their Christmas lights instead of the traditional bulbs. The reason this new style of holiday lighting is taking on is because the colors appear to be much brighter, the lights last and last, and there is less worry about breaking fragile bulbs. So what exactly does LED stand for? It means light emitting diode, which indicates that the light comes out of a small contained area. LED lights were introduced in 1962 by a man named Nick Holonyak Jr. who worked for General Electric. Today, the uses for these lights are countless, although many consider LED Lights to be used as nothing more than indicator lights. Over time, the diversity of uses for this little marvel have grown, and manufacturers are realizing the benefits of using LED versus traditional lights for an abundance of different functions, such as flashlights. Another wonderful use for LED is in toys. Many children’s toys that flash different colors implement LED lights. There are numerous benefits to LED, including the fact that they fade over time versus burn out immediately, give off much less heat than regular light bulbs, are durable, and can last up to approximately ten years!
